Resource Review — "Ultimate Guide to J&K General Studies 2026" (JKSSB Study Fast)
📗 RESOURCE REVIEW — "J&K General Studies 2026" (JKSSB Study Fast)
File:GK of J&K by JKSSB Study Fast.pdf · 158 pages · by Iqbal SirChecked against: the 7 completed JKSSB 2026 papers + both FAA papers (2022, 2024)Reviewed: 30 August 2026
⚖️ THE VERDICT
⭐⭐ KEEP THIS ONE. It is built for exactly this exam and it hits the questions.
Targeting
🟢 ⭐ Excellent. Purpose-built for JKSSB. Every page is J&K. Nothing wasted.
Coverage of what IS asked
🟢 ⭐ Very high — plausibly 45–50 of the 54 J&K-GK questions in the bank
Factual accuracy
🟢 Good, ~90%. 11 issues in a 12-page sample, but mostly internal inconsistencies and spellings, not hard errors on tested facts
Currency
🟡 Current to ~2024–25 (has Omar Abdullah as first CM of the UT). Not 2026-fresh on current affairs
⭐ This is the resource the Parmar SSC history notes were missing. Together they cover the gap: use this for J&K, that one for national Modern history.
🗺️ Section 5 maps all 54 J&K-GK bank questions to the exact page that answers them.
1. What this resource is
"Ultimate Guide to J&K General Studies 2026", by Iqbal Sir / JKSSB Study Fast — a typed, well-tabulated 158-page compilation aimed squarely at JKSSB aspirants. Scanned via CamScanner.
Contents observed: Political divisions · Physiographic divisions · Valleys · Peaks · History of Kashmir (Ancient → Dogra → post-1947) · Article 370 & 35A · Fauna, Flora, National Parks, Ramsar sites · Agriculture (saffron, apple, walnut) · Culture, fairs, festivals, folk dances.
⭐ Unlike the Parmar SSC history notes, there is no wasted material here — J&K GK is worth 30 marks in FAA and this document is 100% on that target.
2. ⭐ DIRECT HITS — questions this resource actually answers
These are confirmed against questions in the vault's banks:
From the FAA papers
FAA question
Covered?
2024 · Q13 — First legislature of J&K (Praja Sabha)
✅ p.12 — "First Legislature of J&K (Praja Sabha) was established in 1934"
2024 · Q30 — Dogra dynasty / treaties pairs
✅ pp.11–12 — Gulab Singh, Ranbir, Pratap, Hari Singh, full reign lists
Sampling note: I read 12 of 158 pages (pp.1–8, 12–17). This is a sample, not an exhaustive audit.
⭐ Important difference from the history notes: most issues here are internal inconsistencies and spellings, not wrong facts on tested points. The error character is much less dangerous.
🔴 Worth acting on

✅ The position to take
1
4, 5
"Nun Peak (7,135 m) is the highest peak of J&K UT"
⚠️ Nun-Kun lies in Kargil district = LADAKH UT since 2019. Many J&K books still list it out of habit. Know the claim (it is the likely "expected" answer) but know why it is contestable.
IUCN's actual current listing is Near Threatened (reclassified 2015). ⚠️ But JKSSB has treated Markhor as critically endangered. Go with the paper's convention, and know the real one.
3
2 vs 15
Hangul scientific name inconsistent — Cervus elaphus hanglu (p.2) vs Cervus hanglu hanglu (p.15)
⭐ Cervus hanglu hanglu is the current accepted name.
4
12–13
Article 370 dated two ways — "Article 370 (1949)" then "Enacted: 26 January 1950" on the next page
Both are defensible: adopted by the Constituent Assembly 17 Oct 1949, came into force 26 Jan 1950. The document never reconciles them.
5
3 vs 5
Sunset Peak located twice — "border of Poonch and Shopian" (p.3) vs "near Yusmarg" (p.5)
Yusmarg is in Budgam. Treat the location as unsettled.
🟡 Minor — spelling, wording, classification

"Shankarvarmon introduced the institution of beggar (forced labour)" → the word is begar. The misspelling changes the meaning entirely. (Correctly spelt "Begar" on p.12 — inconsistent.)
7
6
Periodisation is unconventional — the table files Shah Mir, Chak, Mughal, Afghan and Sikh rule under "MODERN History". Most J&K sources call Shah Mir–Chak Medieval. ⚠️ Could cost you a "which period" question.
8
7
"Karkota… Jayapida last ruler" — Jayapida (751–782) was a major ruler but not the last; the dynasty ran to ~855.
9
5
Peak table is sorted by descending height but Brammah I (6,416 m) is listed above Brammah II (6,485 m); Pinnacle Peak has range "Kishtwar Himalaya" yet significance "(Ladakh)".
10
6
Rajatarangini Persian translation named "Bahr-ul-Asman" → should be Bahr-ul-Asmar. The Urdu translator's name is garbled.
11
12–13
Spellings: "Umer Abdulla" → Omar Abdullah · "Prince of Whales College" → Wales · "Huuza" → Hunza · "Renbir Panal Code" → Ranbir Penal Code

5. 🗺️ PAGE MAP — where each of the 54 JK-GK bank questions is answered
How to use this
Column "Page" is the page in GK of J&K by JKSSB Study Fast.pdf that answers that question.
✅ = the page states the answer outright · 🟡 = the page covers the topic but not the exact detail · ❌ = not found in the pages read.
⚠️ Coverage checked over pages 1–30 of 158. Anything marked ❌ is very likely in the later half — I have not read it, so it is recorded as unverified, not as absent.

⭐ Even reading only the first 30 pages, this one document outright answers 28 of the 54 J&K-GK questions the papers have asked.
The 8 not found are concentrated in two places: the Sultans/Sikh transition (pp. 9–11, which I did not read) — GD·Q117, GD·Q118 — and economy & schemes (WO·Q34, IN·Q69, LA·Q76 ODOP, LA·Q77 MUMKIN), which almost certainly sit in the unread second half.
⚠️ Three more conflicts found while page-mapping

The PDF says
The exam key / this vault says

Bahu Fort was built by the Parmar Rajputs; Bahu Lochan only repaired it
JA·Q54 key: "Built by Raja Bahulochan ~3,000 yrs ago" — direct conflict
30
Jamia Masjid built by Sultan Sikander in 1400 AD
IN·Q68 key: 1394. (Construction began 1394; enlarged later — both dates circulate)

Queen Didda was "the last ruler of the Utpala Dynasty"
⚠️ Contradicts the same book's pp. 7–8, which correctly places Didda in the Gupta dynasty, with Lohara following
27
Tarsar & Marsar lakes are "on the northern slope of the Harmukh, in district Pulwama"
⚠️ Both are in the Anantnag/Aru area, near Kolahoi — not Harmukh, not Pulwama. Probable error
6. 🟡 What it does NOT give you
Gap
Where to get it
2026 current affairs — it stops around 2024-25. Its "Lavender Festival" entry is the first (2022); the 4th was June 2026
Are these notes reliable? ⭐ Yes — the most reliable J&K resource reviewed so far.
It is purpose-built for JKSSB, it is 100% on-target (J&K GK is 30 marks in FAA), and its coverage is wide and deep enough to answer most of the J&K questions the papers have actually asked — I confirmed direct hits on 8 FAA questions and 16 JKSSB paper questions.
The errors are real but mild. 11 issues in 12 pages, but nearly all are internal contradictions and spellings rather than confidently-wrong facts. The two to actually watch are Nun Peak (Ladakh, not J&K UT) and the Markhor IUCN status (contradicts itself on facing pages).
⭐ Use this as your primary J&K GK text. Pair it with the 2026 current affairs file for freshness and with the question banks for practice. Cross-check anything where the document disagrees with itself.
